Interviewing Details

Thank you for your interest in the University of Chicago. We hope that your visit will be informative and enjoyable! Listed below are the logistics of getting to the University of Chicago.

Getting Downtown from O’Hare and Midway Airport

Chicago Transit Authority (CTA): (888) 968-7282 Website: http://transitchicago.com
Chicago’s CTA has a subway system (“the L”) that connects the airports to downtown. If arriving at O’Hare (ORD), you can take the blue line downtown, which takes around 1 hour. If arriving at Midway (MDW), you can take the orange line downtown, which takes around 40 minutes. Depending on the time of day, it may be faster than a cab ride through traffic. Tickets cost $5 from the airport and $2.50 anywhere else (including going back to the airport) and can be used on trains and buses for up to 2 hours.

Rideshare, Cabs, and Shuttles:

Chicago currently has Uber, Lyft, and Via apps that service the city as well as numerous shuttles and cabs. Trips downtown from the airports vary in cost, but usually run around $30-45. Depending on traffic, it can take 30-90 minutes to get downtown. Check your favorite navigation app to see updated times.
