Interviewing Details

Thank you for your interest in the University of Chicago. We hope that your visit will be informative and enjoyable! Listed below are the logistics of getting to the University of Chicago.

Via Public Transit from O’Hare and Midway Airports

Omega Airport Shuttle: (773) 483-6634 Website: http://www.omegashuttle.com
Chicago Transit Authority (CTA): (888) 968-7282 Website: http://transitchicago.com
The cheapest option would be to take the Blue Line CTA (“L”) train to downtown from O’Hare for $2.25. Simply ask your hotel/host which stop is closest. Depending on the time of day, it may actually be faster than a cab ride through traffic. Similarly, the Orange Line CTA is available if you are arriving at Midway, which will also take you to downtown hotels. From downtown you can take the Metra Electric to Hyde Park or the CTA bus, depending on which hotel you use.

Getting to the University of Chicago

Metra Electric Train

Ask at your hotel if they are conveniently located to the Metra commuter rail system. Alternatively, ask them how close they are to the intersection of Randolph and Michigan (entrance to the Metra downtown station). When staying downtown you can take the Metra Electric Line to 59th street (University of Chicago) and then walk west approximately one half mile along the Midway Plaisance to the Hospital. This area is safe for walking alone during daylight hours so you need not worry on that account, however, at night a cab is recommended for safety reasons. To contact the Metra services, visit http://metrarail.com/content/metra/en/home/maps_schedules/metra_system_map/me/map.html or call 312-322-6777 for assistance.

Where to Stay

Please find below a listing of local hotels for lodging during your visit to Chicago. We have listed hotels that are within a close radius to the University. There are many hotels near O’Hare but the distance from the University and the entertainment areas in the city makes them less suitable. Always ask the hotel for the University of Chicago rate.
