Welcome to the University
of Chicago Emergency Medicine Residency, one of the country's oldest training
programs in emergency medicine. Program alumni have distinguished themselves
by achieving leadership roles in the academic, teaching, political, and
practice arenas of emergency medicine. Our university-based program is
unique in that it is comprised of three level one trauma centers located
in distinctly different socio-demographic settings. This insures our residents
an incredibly diverse, comprehensive clinical training experience in a
three year training format. Our faculty and residents recently concluded a year long multi-institutional collaborative review of the guiding principles of our program. We desired to codify the mission of the program and to promote a clear vision of our future:
The clinical care, teaching, research and administrative opportunities of the program combined with the academic excitement and superb resources of the University of Chicago and the Medical Center, Lutheran General Hospital and Mt Sinai Hospital offer our residents a supportive environment in which to achieve success. Our program history is rich, our future promising. Please join in our pursuit of clinical excellence and our desire to produce the leaders of the next generation of emergency physicians.
